- తెలంగాణలో ప్రసిద్ధి పొందిన నారసింహ పుణ్యక్షేత్రం యాదగిరి గుట్ట. పూర్వం నల్గొండ జిల్లాలో, ప్రస్తుతం ‘యాదాద్రి జిల్లాలో గలదు.
- హైదరాబాద్ కు 60 కి.మీ. దూరంలో ఉంది.
- ఆ ఋష్యశృంగుని కొడుకు యాదర్షి హనుమంతుని ఆశీస్సులతో ఈ గుట్ట పైన తపస్సు చేసి నరసింహ స్వామిని ప్రసన్నం చేసుకొన్నాడు.
- అప్పటి నుండి ఆ గుట్టను యాదర్షి పేరు మీద ‘యాదగిరి గుట్ట’ అని పిలుస్తున్నారు.

- ఋష్యశృంగుని కొడుకైన యాదర్షి ఈ గుట్టపై తపస్సు చేసి నారసింహస్వామి దర్శనం పొంది, గుట్టపై వెలయమని కోరుకున్నాడు. యాదర్షి పేరు మీద ‘యాదగిరి గుట్ట’ నామం ఏర్పడింది.

ప్రత్యక్ష కధనం: ఒక వ్యక్తి చెప్పిన మాటలను యధాతధంగా ఉన్నది ఉన్నట్లుగా చెప్పటం ప్రత్యక్ష కధనం.
ప్రత్యక్ష కధనానికి మరియొక పేరు ప్రత్యక్షానుకృతి.
ఉదా: “నేను చదువుచున్నాను” అని సరళ చెప్పింది. “నేను వస్తాను” అని అతడు అన్నాడు.

ఉదా: తాను చదువుచున్నానని సరళ చెప్పింది. తాను వస్తానని అతడు అన్నాడు.
: అనుకారకం: ప్రత్యక్ష కధనం, పరోక్ష కధనం ఈ రెండు కూడా అనుకరణాలే. అనుకరణంలో అంతా చెప్పి చివరకు ‘అని’ అనే పదాన్ని వాడతాం. కధనం చివర ఈ ‘అని’ని వాడతాం. దీనికి అనుకారకం అని పేరు. అంటే ‘అని’ అనుకారక పదం.
ప్రత్యక్ష కథనాన్ని పరోక్ష కథనంలోనికి మార్చుట :
1. కాకి ‘కావ్ కావ్’ మని అరుస్తుంది. (ప్రత్యక్షం)

ఇతిహాసం అనగా – ఇది ఇట్లు జరిగింది అని అర్ధం.ఇతిహాసంలో కథకు ప్రాధాన్యం ఇస్తారు.

ధృతరాష్ట్రుడు. : హస్తినాపురానికి రాజు, పాండురాజుసోదరుడు . ఇతనికి 100 మందికుమారులుకౌరవులు .
దుర్యోధనుడు : కౌరవులలో పెద్దవాడు. భీముడుఅంటేద్వేషం. భీముడికి విషం పెట్టి చంపాలి అనుకున్నాడు. ద్రోణాచార్యుడు పెట్టిన పరీక్షలోభీముడు తో గదా యుద్ధం ఓడిపోయాడు .
ద్రోణాచార్యుడు : కౌరవ పాండవులకు గురువు.
పాండవులు : పాండురాజు, భీముడు, అర్జునుడు, నకులుడు, సహదేవుడు.
బండరాయి మీద పడగా, ఎటువంటి దెబ్బ తగలకుండా, ఆ బండరాయే ముక్కలయ్యింది. ఆ రాయి మీద పడ్డ బాలుడు – బాల భీముడు

శ్రీరామ నవమి : ఉగాది తరువాత తొమ్మిది రోజులకు, అంటే ‘చైత్రమాస శుద్ధ నవమి’ రోజున జరుపుకునే పండుగ. ఇది శ్రీరాముని జన్మదినం. ఈ రోజున సీతారాముల కల్యాణం చేసే సంప్రదాయం ఉన్నది.
దసరా: ఆశ్వయుజ మాసం శుద్ధ దశమి రోజునే ఈ పండుగ జరుపుకుంటాం.రాముడు రావణాసురుణ్ణి సంహరించింది. ఈ రోజే. మహాభారతంలో పాండవులు జమ్మి చెట్టు మీద ఆయుధాలు దాచితీసింది. ఈ రోజునే. అందుకే ఈ రోజును విజయదశమి అని పిలుస్తాం.
దసరానాడు పాలపిట్టను చూస్తాం. జమ్మిచెట్టుకు పూజ చేస్తాం.
బతుకమ్మ పండుగ : దసరా సమయంలో ఈ పండుగను జరుపుకుంటారు. దీనినే ‘పూల పండుగ అని కూడా అంటారు.
బొడ్డెమ్మ పండగ :బొడ్డెమ్మ ఆడపిల్లల పండుగ. కన్నెపిల్లలు, బాలికలు తమ పెండ్లి ఘనంగా జరగాలని ఎంతో సంబురంగా జరుపుకుంటారు. ఈ పండుగ భాద్రపద బహుళ అమావాస్యకు ముందు ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది. తొమ్మిది రోజులు ఆడిపాడి, అమావాస్యకు ముందే బొట్టెమ్ములను నిమజ్జనం చేస్తారు. పుట్టమన్నుతో గద్దెను చేసి, ముగ్గులు పెట్టి దానిలో ‘వెంపలి చెట్టును పెడతారు. ఈ పందుగ బంజారాల తీజ్ పండుగను పోలి ఉంటుంది.
తీజ్ పండుగ : ఇది కన్నె పిల్లలు జరుపుకునే పండుగ తండాలోని ఆడపిల్లలు సీ» భవాని (లంబాడీ దేవత) కి పూజ చేసిన తర్వాత ఈ పండుగ జరుపుతారు. అడవిలో దొరికే దుసేరు తీగలతో అల్లిన బుట్టలో, తందా నాయకుని చేత పుట్ట మన్ను పోయించి, వాటిలో నానబెట్టిన గోధుములు జల్లుతారు. 9వ రోజున మొలకెత్తిన నారుని అన్నదమ్ములకి ఇచ్చి ఆశీర్వాదం తీసుకొని నృత్యాలు చేస్తూ వెళ్ళి ఆ బుట్టలని నిమజ్జనం చేస్తారు.
రంజాన్ : రంజాన్ అనేది ఇస్లాం క్యాలెండర్ లో ఒక నెల పేరు. ఈ రంజాన్ నెలలోనే ముస్లింల పవిత్ర గ్రంథమైన ఖురాన్ ఆవిర్భవించింది. నెల చివరన ఈద్-ఉల్-ఫితర్ (రంజాన్) ఎంతో ఘనంగా జరుపుకుంటారు.
క్రిస్టమస్ : డిసెంబర్ 25న ఈ పండుగను జరుపుకుంటారు. ఏసుక్రీస్తు జన్మించిన రోజైన క్రిస్మస్ పండుగను క్రైస్తవులంతా ఎంతో ఘనంగా జరుపుకుంటారు. క్రైస్తవులు ఈ పర్వదినాన ఇంటిని నక్షత్రాలతో అలంకరించుకుంటారు.

కవి : సత్యం శంకరమంచి (3.3.1937 – 21.5.1987)
గుంటూరు జిల్లా అమరావతిలో జన్మించారు.
‘అమరావతి కథలు’, ‘కార్తీక దీపాలు’ కథా సంపుటాలు, ‘రేపటి దారి’, ‘సీత స్వగతాలు’, ‘ఆఖరి ప్రేమలేఖ’, ‘ఎడారిలో కలువపూలు’ మొదలైన నవలలు, హరహర మహాదేవ నాటకం, దిన, వార పత్రికలలో అనేక వ్యాసాలు రాశారు.
1979లో “అమరావతి కథల’కు రాష్ట్ర సాహిత్య అకాడమీ పురస్కారం అందుకున్నారు.
ఈ పాఠం సత్యం శంకరమంచి రాసిన అమరావతి కథలు లోనిది.

శతకం అంటే సూరు పద్యాల రచన. శతక పద్యాల చివర ‘మకుటం’ ఉంటుంది. ఇందులో పద్యాలు ‘ముక్తకాలు’గా ఉంటాయి. అంటే ఏ పద్యానికి ఆ పద్యం స్వతంత్రభావం కలిగి ఉంటుంది. మకుటం ఉండటం వలన శతకకవి ఏ పద్య ఛందస్సును ఎన్నుకుంటాడో అదే ఛందస్సులో అన్ని పద్యాలు రాయవలసి ఉంటుంది.

ముస్లింలు జరుపుకునే పండుగలలో పవిత్రమైన పండుగ రంజాన్.
దీన్ని “ఈద్” అని, ‘ఈద్-ఉల్-ఫితర్’ అని కూడా అంటారు. ఈ పండుగ

మొదలవుతుంది.
ఆ మరునాడు పెద్దయెత్తున ‘ఈద్’ పం జరుపుకుంటారు. అందరూ కొత్తబట్టలు ధరించి ‘ఈద్ గాహ్’ కి వెళ్ళి, సామూహిక ప్రార్థనలు చేస్తారు.
